TRANSPORTATION

Rental Cars

Hiring a car will give you much more flexibility on your arrival and departure times and if you plan to do a little touring before or after the wedding. If you plan to rent a vehicle, remember that driving is on the left side of the road! You might also want to reserve a vehicle with automatic transmission as most rental cars in Europe are manual. Also, we advise a GPS system be included in the rental as you will likely not have the ability to use google maps or purchase a good old fashion map (like this one). Dublin Airport is supplied by a number of car rental companies including Hertz, Budget, Sixt, Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Dooley Car Rentals and CARHIRE.ie

Flights

Dublin Airport: There are many nonstop flights from the US major airports (NYC - JFK/EWR, Chicago, D.C., Boston, Philadelphia and San Fran) to Dublin Airport with various airlines - Delta, United, Aer Lingus, Norwegian Air and American Airlines. The flights are all overnight and most depart between 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm in the evening and arrive between 4:00 am - 11:00 am. The flight duration from the east coast airports is around 6.5 hours. ARRIVING IN IRELAND
DEPARTING IN IRELAND

The flights back to the US are mostly in the morning and depart Dublin between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. The flight duration back to the east coast airports is around 7.5 hours. If you travel around Ireland, there are other airports; however, the only other international airport is Shannon Airport. Both Dublin and  Shannon airports offer US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance before your departure, which means that when you arrive back into the US you arrive as a domestic flight and go straight to baggage claim. Keep in mind, if you are taking a morning flight be sure to get to the airport at least 2 hours in advance to allow time for customs.

Taxis, Uber & Private Transport

Taxis and Uber are available to/from the airport and throughout Ireland. They will range from €20-€60 to the city centre. In Ireland, preferred over Uber is myTaxi/Hailo. I would highly suggest downloading the myTaxi app before traveling. You'll find their prices more reasonable.

If you'd like to schedule a private transfer in advance I recommend the following companies for scheduling transfers, they will range from €40-€60 each way and might be the best option for larger parties (many can accommodate anywhere from 6+ passengers and luggage):
